My newest toy- The Root Slayer

 The area we're working in has tons of horrible roots that need to be removed before planting all the daylilies, otherwise we'll be fighting this growth forever. 

I found a cool new shovel called the Weed Slayer and it's perfect for this chore. 

It has serrated edges and is smaller at the base to dig down deep.

I can't say it makes digging these nasty roots out a joy, but it sure does a great job.

We saw this being used at one of the gardens we went to when buying plants off Marketplace.

All I need in life is Marketplace and Amazon and I'm set.

And My Garden Still Continues

  Sometimes I feel this will never be done. There are so many roots! Everytime I think I've got them all I go to dig a hole to plant something and there they are again. But, the area is finally clear and I even dug out the small tree I was going to leave, so now all the area behind it is open with a view of the lagoon. The following photo shows the brush across the lagoon to give you an idea of what I've been clearing to open up the view to the water. I've been able to use all my toys, the hedge clipper, the chain saw and pruners. I moved the wishing well that Shawn made into a more prominent spot and then took the curved edging someone gifted us to make a little "garden" in front of it. Right now there's just some soil there, but I'll be adding some bulbs this fall and flowers next spring.   I'm finding some nice plants that are close out priced at Menards and places to add.  All the daylilies are finally planted and mulched in...and without falling i...

One Month Checkup

  Today is the day I've been waiting for, the reason I'm still in Arizona as the weather gets hotter and hotter.   I was so excited that I got to the clinic at 9:45. This was fine and dandy except my appointment wasn't until 1:30. So, I headed back home and stopped at Der Weinerschnitzel for a hot dog for lunch. They always look so confused when you order a sandwich without the bun. I enjoyed my all beef weiner with catsup, mustard and onion and actually ate the whole thing which surprised me. After loving up George for a bit I went back at my appointed time to meet with Amanda. I was shocked at my weigh in to see 201. They take two pounds off for shoes and clothes so they have me recorded at 199. This is major for me. My highest weight was 232 and I lost 15 pounds prior to the surgery, making my surgery weight 217. So I've lost 16 pounds in my first month for a total loss of 31 pounds. Finally...getting to the inside of the shed

The moment I've been waiting for! The flooring went in and is beautiful. Thank you Mike Hren for your excellent work! I think of this as more of a Craft Cottage than a She Shed since it will also be pressed into service as guest sleeping quarters at some point in the future.  I had to explain to George (my cat) why he couldn't come and hang out with me as it it needs to stay a cat-free zone for my son-in-law who has allergies.    Sorry George. And speaking of great work, Left Brain painted all the white shelves that would be hung over the windows and French doors, as well as a hanging shelf to be used for my cutting grids. I knew I wanted a calming blue for the walls and a crisp white trim and shelves for a nice clean look. Pinterest inspired the crisscross curtains hung on white hooks. I added the ivy on the hooks.
