The Patio

 I finally got the larger patio mat that I ordered and it's perfect!

It covers the seating area and extends over the gravel in front of the paved area, helping to keep a little more dirt from coming into the house. It even goes under the RV a ways so I can more easily slide things underneath to be stored.

Then I picked up a gazebo canopy on Marketplace to cover the area.  It's not that we needed more shade, it's more of a poop-guard for the birds.


I scrubbed down the benches and put the cushions on them and maybe now we'll have an area that is inviting to stop and sit!

Since the mosquitos are quite active (they are the Minnesota state bird) I ordered netting to surround the seating area.

And finally (since I can't seem to stop myself) I ordered a battery operated chandelier to hang from the center. 



I really wanted an old fashioned tacky one with lots of crystals dripping down, but want to actually have lights also, so this was the way I chose to go.

So now we have a cat cage and a people cage!

A bump in the road

I'm getting closer and closer to the finish line. My last medical exam was to have a chest x-ray and I received the orders for it Monday.   As luck would have it, I was able to get in the same day. Easy peasy. Tuesday night we watched the Oprah special on the Weight Loss revolution where she discussed the use of injectable meds for weight loss. It was very interesting and explained that obesity is a disease and has nothing to do with lack of willpower. That felt good to hear, because for years I've felt it was "just genetics" or "laziness" which leads to a lot of self-shaming. I've been fortunate that I've not had a lot of public shaming except for a man once at McDonald's who I had gotten in his way and when I paused to let him pass he called me a "g-d damn fat cow".  That really stung. A new beginning

 I didn't realize when I changed the name of my blog to Metamorphosis just how accurate that was to be. This blog is mainly for me to chronicle my journey, but open to anyone who wants to read along. I've always been very open with my life and everything in it. There was a niggling little voice in the back of my head that was warning me to do something about my weight. It told me I'd been lucky so far but if nothing changed my good times would be over. I listen to those voices. Well, not all of them...but this one sounded important. So, I scheduled an appointment with a bariatric surgeon at Banner just to explore the options. He asked if I'd always been heavy and I had to laugh. I've never weighed over 120 until about my 50's (other than 130 pounds when nine months pregnant) when my body had a full fledged mutiny and I blew up like a balloon in the Macy's Day parade.  Looking back it was probably due to many stressors in my life and having undiagnosed sleep

The Last Supper, er... Lunch

  Well, today is my last day of eating food for a while before I enter the land of protein shakes, broth and water. I can't wait!  Because that signals the beginning of the process in my mind. Yes, I know...I've been working towards this goal since November, but this feels like the real start of things. So, I'm sharing my last supper lunch with good friends at PF Changs. We've lived here for seven years and have yet to visit this restaurant. When I learned it was the favorite place of my friend, Karen I knew this was where we had to go. Fried bananas for dessert Karen and Cal started the Grub Club at Carriage Manor and have built a reputation for serving good food at a reasonable price.  I just looked at the menu for May and was pleased to see so many selections that Left Brain can enjoy on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Now I just need to come up with some stuff to fix for him the other days during my liquid diet.
